Day 9: An Epic Nap
Today's stats:
Energy level: Good when I woke up, but crashed midday and took a loooong nap
Overall weight loss: - 8.9lbs (no change from yesterday)
Tongue: Mild coating (better than yesterday)
Mood: Excellent
Mental clarity: Excellent
Well, I feel like I've finally settled into the groove with this fast. My hunger is pretty low, I feel satiated after the milk, and my energy has been really good for the most part. Next week will be a test for me, as I increase the number of fitness classes I'm teaching. I'll also be back on the rowing erg, so that will be a test of my endurance for sure. I'm actually looking forward to it though. I'll adjust my caloric intake if I start feeling too rundown.
Speaking of feeling rundown... Shortly after writing the first part of this post, I was feeling a little sleepy so I went to take a quick nap on the sofa. Four hours later... I wake up. I was out HARD. I guess I was tired! 😂 I'll take is as a sign that my body is doing some internal repairs and needed the downtime.
Also, last night I attempted to make my first batch of kefir. I added 3 cups of raw milk and 3 cups of kefir (both from Organic Pastures) into a jar, secured a paper towel over the top with a rubber band, and left it out on the counter overnight. I checked on it just now (about 18 hrs into the culturing) and it still hasn't thickened much. Maybe there's a little bit of culturing happening, but definitely not a lot. If this doesn't work, I'll buy some kefir grains to make my own kefir at home. Will update once I figure out if this current batch is a failure or not.
