Day 4: Mild Fatigue
Today's stats:
Energy level: Low
Overall weight loss: -7.8 lbs (whoa)
Tongue: Still heavily coated
Mood: Awesome
Mental clarity: Excellent
I'm feeling really good despite the low energy levels. I'm noticing my skin looks quite healthy and my legs are a lot less swollen than usual. Because of my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, my legs don't have great circulation and are always somewhat heavy. I could see a noticeable difference in my calves this morning while I was laying in bed. Much less puffy--so that was cool to notice.
I'm really tempted to make paneer today because I am definitely craving something solid to eat, but I'm going to wait for at least one week before making any changes to my protocol. Also, if my weight continues to drop at this pace, I will need to increase my calorie intake. I'm guessing that the weight loss will taper off as I go along... but as of now, it seems like Dr. Crewe's report of a patient dropping approx 3 lbs per day doesn't seem so crazy after all (my average = -2.6 lbs/day). Again, we'll see whether that continues and then I'll reassess my calories as needed.
Here's a recipe I made last night and it was REALLY good--it's caffeine free so you can even enjoy it in the evening. I don't measure the ingredients (other than the milk) so these are just approximate amounts:
Lisa's "Coffee"
2 bags of Teeccino Dandelion Caramel Nut Herbal Coffee
1 cup water
2 cups RAW milk
1/4 tsp Turmeric
1/8 tsp fresh Black Pepper
2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
Dash of Himalayan Salt
Boil the water and then seep tea until dark. Add milk and other ingredients, stir and bring everything to a GENTLE boil (may take 15+ minutes over LOW heat). As soon as the milk foams up, remove from stove and ENJOY :)

My "Coffee" |
Well, not surprisingly, I am feeling some fatigue today. No headache. Yesterday I did some burpees in celebration of my friend's birthday and I was really winded after about 15 reps. That was my first time really noticing a significant drop in my energy levels/endurance. This was expected though. In all my previous fasts, I have experienced fatigue, headaches, and fairly intense hunger for the first 3-5 days. For me, the upward trajectory of positive effects from the fasting seems to kick in around the 1 week mark, so we'll see if that holds true for this fast as well.
