Day 18: I Love Paneer

Image
Today's stats: Energy level: Great! Overall weight loss: - 9.6lbs (I gained +0.3lbs from yesterday-- maybe it was all the paneer I ate 😂) Tongue: Mild coating  Mood: Excellent Mental clarity: Excellent So update on the paneer: It was a great success! I added some to my evening "soup" and it was really delicious-- so satisfying. I may have eaten a little more than I should have. 😂 But I was happy with how easy it was to make. I'll definitely keep it as a staple of my diet after the fast. I'm already fantasizing about making a paneer wrap with sprouts and veggies. YUM! I also came across another interesting book about the benefits of raw milk.  The Miracle of Milk  was written by Bernard Macfadden in 1923. He was an interesting guy... Anyhow, everything is going well and I feel great. Since I'm taking TRS, I think I need to be drinking more water. I don't feel dehydrated at all, I just think the extra fluid intake will assist with detoxif...

Day 10 - 17: Cruising Along

Image
Today's stats: Energy level: Great! Overall weight loss: - 9.9lbs  Tongue: Mild coating  Mood: Excellent Mental clarity: Excellent Giant pot of milk and cream for paneer Well there wasn't too much to report the last week or so, other than a little weight loss (about -10lbs so far). A few days ago, I made the mistake of thinking I could melt a little raw cheddar cheese in my milk (also from Organic Pastures), just to add a little flavor. That didn't go well. I definitely don't recommend doing that 😂 It upset my stomach pretty bad. So since then, I've been good about sticking to just the milk and kefir. What I'm doing today is making some paneer . This is a much lighter cheese, so it should be easy to digest, unlike the cheddar. I added some raw cream to the milk for the paneer (a tip I found online), and I'll be using fresh lemon juice. We'll see how it goes. Overall, I'm feeling great. My dad made popcorn last night and it smelled SO...

Day 9: An Epic Nap

Image
Today's stats: Energy level: Good when I woke up, but crashed midday and took a loooong nap Overall weight loss: - 8.9lbs (no change from yesterday) Tongue: Mild coating (better than yesterday) Mood: Excellent Mental clarity: Excellent Well, I feel like I've finally settled into the groove with this fast. My hunger is pretty low, I feel satiated after the milk, and my energy has been really good for the most part. Next week will be a test for me, as I increase the number of fitness classes I'm teaching. I'll also be back on the rowing erg, so that will be a test of my endurance for sure. I'm actually looking forward to it though. I'll adjust my caloric intake if I start feeling too rundown. Speaking of feeling rundown... Shortly after writing the first part of this post, I was feeling a little sleepy so I went to take a quick nap on the sofa. Four hours later... I wake up. I was out HARD. I guess I was tired! 😂 I'll take is as a sign that my bod...

Day 8: Vivid Dreams

Image
Today's stats: Energy level: Decent Overall weight loss: - 8.9lbs (no change from yesterday) Tongue: Mild coating  Mood: Great Mental clarity: Great Not much to report other than my dreams getting more active and vivid. Last night, I had a dream that my former meditation teacher came to visit me. He blessed the food I was eating and was very sweet to me. It was a nice dream.  The psyllium husk was a good call. I took about 1 Tbsp in water last night before bed. I had a couple of really productive movements this morning, and I feel like I eliminated a lot of built-up waste. So I plan to continue with a serving of psyllium husk at least once per week.  I went to the grocery store and picked up more milk. They only had one container of kefir left, so I'm going to experiment and see if I can culture some of my milk by adding a little kefir. I read in this article that this works sometimes-- but not all the time. So we shall see.

Day 7: Week 1 Complete

Image
Today's stats: Energy level: Meh Overall weight loss: - 8.9lbs (-1.1lbs from yesterday) Tongue: Mild coating (still improving!) Mood: Good Mental clarity: Good My "Coffee" I woke up feeling a bit sluggish. Nothing extreme, just a little more tired than usual. I think that might be because my dreams have been rather intense the past couple of nights. First, I was hiding from a bloodthirsty beast. Then last night, I was hanging out with my ex-boyfriend. Both dreams were stressful in their own ways. 😂 I haven't had very vivid dreams in a while, so that's an interesting development. I'll be taking some psyllium husk tonight to help clear out any accumulation of waste in my digestive tract. I've been having regular, daily movements since I started the fast, but I imagine it would be good to give my body some fiber. The white coating on my tongue definitely indicates that my body is detoxifying itself. So I think it's a good idea to support my ...

Day 6: To Clabber or Not to Clabber

Image
Today's stats: Energy level: Medium-Good (improving!) Overall weight loss: -7.8 lbs (still no change since Day 4) Tongue: Mild coating (still improving!) Mood: Excellent Mental clarity: Excellent What an eventful day! If you read my post from yesterday, you'll recall that I asked Organic Pastures about the claims that "Heal Your Gut Guy" (HYGG) made about their milk in his YouTube video (I posted the video yesterday). Basically HYGG said the flash chilling killed the bacteria. Organic Pastures said it didn't. So I posted an update on yesterday's post, and I also posted a comment on the video, repeating what Organic Pastures had told me. I left a message with Organic Pastures clarifying that HYGG pointed to the fact that their milk doesn't clabber (aka turn into yogurt) when left out as proof that the bacteria is dead. I got a reply from both of them this morning. Mark, CEO at Organic Pastures, wrote: " After hearing your voice mail it appea...

Day 5: Flash Chilling

Image
Today's stats: Energy level: Medium Overall weight loss: -7.8 lbs (no change since yesterday) Tongue: Mild coating-- improving! Mood: Excellent Mental clarity: Excellent I'm honestly relieved my weight didn't drop again. Losing 7.8 lbs is a LOT for just a few days, so I'm glad the weight loss seems to be slowing down. I also notice that my hunger is starting dissipate, as well. This morning a friend sent me a very informative video about the raw milk "cure": 7 Biggest Mistakes on Raw Milk Diet Cure I'm learning that a raw milk diet is actually much more widely practiced than I realized! And a lot of people have used it to heal from lots of different problems. Personally, I'm not using this raw milk fast to "cure" anything--it's more about a mental and spiritual "reset"-- praying for clarity about my life and certain decisions that I'm facing. But it's cool to know that many people are still using this practi...
